Softball Game Preview: Lorena Leopards vs. China Spring Cougars

For the second straight game, Lorena will face off against China Spring. The Leopards will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lorena has won eight straight at home, while China Spring won nine straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.

Lorena lost 10-4 to China Spring on Tuesday.

For China Spring's part, Jayada Greene made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Greene was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Nicole Prestidge was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Cait Klement, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

China Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive contests.

China Spring's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Lorena, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-9.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lorena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like China Spring struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
