Otay Ranch suffered their closest defeat since May 9, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Hilltop Lancers by a score of 7-5. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Otay Ranch got a good showing from Orlando Sivilla, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Sivilla has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Otay Ranch saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cory Salazar, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Otay Ranch's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 16-6. As for Hilltop, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.
