The Silex Owls will venture away from home to square off against the Paris Coyotes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Silex is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Silex came out on top against Wellsville-Middletown on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Owls never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Owls.

Chase Vehige and Joe Dameron made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Vehige struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Dameron pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Vehige has posted since back in March. At the plate, Vehige got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Dameron got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Silex is undefeated when Dameron posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jack Johnson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Silex's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Rylan Hallemeyer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Silex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Paris was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against North Shelby, falling 13-1.
Silex pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Paris, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Silex came out on top in a nail-biter against Paris in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Coyotes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
