Preview: Desert Hills Thunder vs. Dixie Flyers
Desert Hills is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Dixie is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Desert Hills Thunder will take on the Dixie Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
Even though Crimson Cliffs scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, Desert Hills still came out on top. Desert Hills took their game against Crimson Cliffs 72-61.
It was another big night for Eli Allred, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Ben Chase was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Dixie faced Snow Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dixie took down Snow Canyon 77-60 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kyle Lemke was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Breckon Robinson, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Dixie, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Desert Hills hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.3 points per game. However, it's not like Dixie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 73 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Desert Hills took a serious blow against Dixie in their previous matchup back in January, falling 78-47. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Desert Hills was down 38-18.
