Football Recap: Pearsall Comes Up Short

Pearsall extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were beaten by the Devine Warhorses / Arabians 34-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Mavericks haven't been shut out since back in September.

As for Devine, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5. That looming 34-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

KARTER BROWN was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 24 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 91 yards and two TDs on only six passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Devine's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise.

Coming up, Pearsall will head out on the road to challenge San Antonio Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will be up against the Minutemen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Devine, they will host Bandera at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The BULLDOGS' defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so the Warhorses / Arabians' offense will have their work cut out for them.
