Baseball Recap: West Branch Comes Up Short

After flying high against Curwensville on Thursday, West Branch came back down to earth. The Warriors lost 17-9 to the Juniata Valley Hornets on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Hornets since April 11, 2019.

Coby Kephart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs. West Branch is 7-2 when Kephart posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Parks, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

West Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Juniata Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Looking ahead, West Branch will be playing in front of their home fans against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The WolfPack have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.15 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. Juniata Valley will be paying especially close attention to West Branch's game: after West Branch faces off against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, they'll take on Juniata Valley again at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
