Softball Recap: Leslie County Has No Trouble Against Paintsville

Leslie County came out on top against Paintsville on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run second inning. The Eagles blew past the Tigers 14-1. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2017.

Makayla Campbell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Peyton Turner was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Royce Osborne was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Leslie County and bumps their season record up to 5-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Paintsville, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Leslie County will host Middlesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Paintsville, they will take on Belfry at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
