Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Belpre's Third in Last Four Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southern, Belpre was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Beallsville Blue Devils by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Golden Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Makayla Carmichael made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Lucy Ruble and Addy Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Ruble went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Stewart scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Avery George, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Belpre was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Belpre has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Beallsville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Belpre will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Devils: the pair will be back at it again later today.
