Basketball Recap: Kenlie Zwiener's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pleasanton over Blue Hill

If Pleasanton was feeling good fresh off their 57-34 takedown of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pleasanton Bulldogs took a hard 52-35 fall against the Blue Hill Bobcats on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2018.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenlie Zwiener, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Brittany Riley was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Pleasanton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Blue Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reece Mlady led the charge by going 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Mlady has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Mangers, who scored 13 points and three steals.

Pleasanton's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Blue Hill, their record now sits at an identical 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pleasanton and Loomis will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Blue Hill, they will take on Deshler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
