Basketball Game Preview: Grand Prairie Gophers vs. South Grand Prairie Warriors

Grand Prairie hasn't had much luck against South Grand Prairie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Grand Prairie Gophers will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Grand Prairie Warriors at 6:00 p.m.

Grand Prairie is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 22nd straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were dealt a 47-12 loss at the hands of Haltom.

Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Vikings 56-36. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Vikings are ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Grand Prairie pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Grand Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.

Grand Prairie was taken down by South Grand Prairie 71-29 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Grand Prairie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
