Softball Recap: Bozeman Comes Up Short

Bozeman was the 7-6 winner over Holmes County when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Bucks fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Bucks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nya Bautista was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Addison John made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlee McLean, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.

Bozeman's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Holmes County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bozeman will take on Beechwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something the Bucks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Holmes County, they will square off against Wicksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
