Football Recap: Rahway Indians vs. Willingboro Chimeras
Rahway unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Willingboro Chimeras by a score of 35-33 on Friday. While the Indians had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Chimeras 19-7.
Rahway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Avent, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown. Avent's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Ja'Quan Robinson, who threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rahway will challenge Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Willingboro, they will face off against Eastside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
