Preview: Agoura Chargers vs. Moorpark Musketeers
After three games on the road, Agoura is heading back home. They will take on The Moorpark Musketeers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 33 points the game before, Agoura were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 31-7 defeat at the hands of Thousand Oaks. Agoura had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Meanwhile, Moorpark put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Camarillo with a sharp 38-14 victory. Given Moorpark's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Camarillo is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moorpark to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Cochran, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Hensley, who threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns.
Thousand Oaks' victory bumped their season record to 7-3 while Agoura's loss dropped theirs to 7-2.
Agoura took a serious blow against Moorpark in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 42-13. Thankfully for Agoura, Connor Smith (who threw for 321 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt) won't be suiting up this time.
