Recap: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Wayne Academy Jaguars
The Leake Academy Rebels can now show off 19 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They really took it to Wayne Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-34 victory at home. The victory was nothing new for Leake Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Leake Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katye Jones led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Marleigh Myers, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Leake Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. As for Wayne Academy, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Leake Academy will head out on the road to take on Simpson Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Park Place Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Park Place Christian Academy has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since October 24.
