Baseball Recap: Estes Park Find Success

Estes Park barely beat Weld Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Estes Park's pitcher stepped up to hand Weld Central a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bobcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Matthias Westley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Caleb Sumner was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Estes Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weld Central only posted an OBP of .211.

The win got Estes Park back to even at 1-1. As for Weld Central, they dropped their record down to 3-4 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estes Park is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Platte Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Weld Central, they will square off against Eagle Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Eagle Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something Weld Central will no doubt try to take advantage of.
