Softball Game Preview: ITW David Speer Academy Pride vs. Hampshire Whip-Purs

The ITW David Speer Academy Pride will face off against the Hampshire Whip-Purs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. ITW David Speer Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Hampshire likes a good challenge.

ITW David Speer Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Lexington on Friday. ITW David Speer Academy fell just short of Lexington by a score of 12-11. The contest marked the Pride's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

ITW David Speer Academy got a massive performance out of Miabella Collazo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Collazo a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was Janelise Cosme, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-4.

Collazo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: ITW David Speer Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Hampshire got the win against Rochelle on Friday by a conclusive 17-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Whip-Purs.

Hampshire now has a winning record of 2-1. As for ITW David Speer Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
