Basketball Recap: Loveland Comes Up Short

Loveland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 53-30 to the Poudre Impalas. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Impalas this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-14 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Loveland lost, don't look at Courtlyn Yaussi. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Yaussi has become a key player for Loveland: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-11 otherwise.

Poudre's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maggie Foster led the charge by dropping a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Foster continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kavi Voglund was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six assists and four steals.

Loveland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Poudre, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-10.

Loveland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-42 loss against Fort Collins on the 7th. As for Poudre, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-39 win against Vista PEAK Prep on the 6th.
