Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cheboygan

Cheboygan entered their tilt with Elk Rapids on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Elks with a sharp 10-4 win. For the Chiefs, this counts as revenge for the 12-4 victory the Elks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Lydia Kosanke spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bea Schulz, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diem Schley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The win got Cheboygan back to even at 3-3. As for Elk Rapids, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Cheboygan will face off against Negaunee at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elk Rapids, they will take on Harbor Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
