Winston Academy extended their winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Maggie Burns. The Patriots walked away with a 2-0 win over the Starkville Academy Volunteers on Saturday with plenty of help from Burns, who had 12 assists and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Winston Academy took both sets by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-13.

Winston Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Starkville Academy, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Winston Academy has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Heritage Academy on the 12th. As for Starkville Academy, they will head out to square off against Tupelo T at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
