Game recap: Poteau High School Football Team bests Cleveland

POTEAU, Okla. - Poteau (Okla.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Cleveland (Okla.), 48-7, on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Jace Pitchford in the first quarter, the Pirates led 27-0 at the half.

Poteau grew its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.

Cleveland's only touchdown came on a pass in the third quarter.



The Pirates entered the contest giving up 18.7 points per game this year. A defensively strong Poteau kept the Tigers well below the 26.3 points it had been averaging per game.

The loss comes after Cleveland defeated McLain Science & Tech 42-14 last week. The win brought Poteau's winning streak to four games.
