It was a good run, but Jurupa Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 30-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summit SkyHawks. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the SkyHawks from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
Jurupa Hills lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaylene Murillo, who picked up 169 receiving yards. She was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 65 yards. Emelie Castrejon also helped out by tossing the rock for 357 yards.
Jurupa Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Aritzy Hernandez, Murillo, and Kamaya Johns picked up one apiece.
Jurupa Hills' loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Summit, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Jurupa Hills will take on rival San Gorgonio at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Summit is set to square off against their familiar foe Arroyo Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the SkyHawks 10.5, the Hawks 13.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
