Basketball Recap: Englewood Stem Comes Up Short

Englewood Stem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 52-24 loss at the hands of the Crane Medical Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while the Cougars are ranked 135th).

Brad Blackman was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards for Crane Medical. Blackman has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 16 times he's played. Jamier Montgomery was another key player, putting up six points.

Englewood Stem's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Crane Medical, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Englewood Stem has already played their next game (against Northside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crane Medical didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-31 victory against American International Academy on the 18th.
