Softball Recap: Combs Victorious

Combs and ALA - Gilbert North pushed the score to 18-1 the last time they played ALA - Gilbert North, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Coyotes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-1 on Monday.

Kayleigh Snyder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ellie Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Melissa Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Combs' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Looking ahead, Combs will challenge Apache Junction at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Coyotes are facing the Prospectors at the right time seeing as the Prospectors are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. ALA - Gilbert North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
