Basketball Recap: Avery Caldwell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mountain View Prep over Union County

Mountain View Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 35-20 bruising from the Union County Yellowjackets.

Mountain View Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Caldwell, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Caldwell has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Richards, who earned six points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mountain View Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Mountain View Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Union County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View Prep will challenge Chapman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union County, they will square off against Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County is facing Broome at the right time seeing as Broome is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
