Softball Recap: Alvord Comes Up Short

Alvord lost against Muenster back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bulldogs lost 11-1 to the Hornets.

Makayla Gresham was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and eight unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Alvord's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Muenster, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Alvord will take on rival Lindsay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Muenster is set to challenge their familiar foe Nocona at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
