Baseball Recap: Blythewood Comes Up Short

Blythewood entered their match against Sumter on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bengals fell just short of the Gamecocks by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gamecocks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 last Tuesday.

Sergio Melendez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Blythewood and nudges their season record down to 14-3. As for Sumter, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Blythewood will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ridge View at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The Bengals are facing the Blazers at the right time seeing as the Blazers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Sumter, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cheraw at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
