Basketball Recap: Jay Wright Key Part of a Team Effort in Bears Win

There's no place like home for Delhi, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over the Delhi Charter Gators on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-64 on December 6th.

Delhi's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jay Wright led the charge by going 8 of 17 on his way to 18 points along with seven steals and six boards. That's the most boards Wright has posted since back in November of 2023. Jimmy Spruill was another key player, going 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Delhi smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Delhi's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Delhi Charter, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Delhi will head out to face off against Vidalia at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Delhi is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Delhi Charter, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Delhi at 2:40 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
