Basketball Game Preview: Niles North Vikings vs. Deerfield Warriors

The Niles North Vikings will square off against the Deerfield Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Niles North took a blow against Maine East, falling 64-36. The Vikings have struggled against the Blue Demons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Deerfield played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Maine South 72-45. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Hawks are ranked 26th).

Niles North's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Deerfield, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-22.

Niles North was able to grind out a solid win over Deerfield when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 40-33. Will Niles North repeat their success, or does Deerfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
