Flag Football Recap: Sunnyside's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Sunnyside dropped to 8-4 on Thursday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a hard 21-7 fall against the Marana Tigers. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

As for Marana, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 28.7 points this season.

Marana got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Garcia out in front who threw for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 70 yards.

Coming up, Sunnyside is taking a road trip to challenge Highland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests. As for Marana, they will be playing at home against Boulder Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 6.6, the Jaguars 10.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
