Baseball Recap: East Juniata Takes a Loss

East Juniata extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They came up short against the Greenwood Wildcats, falling 16-5. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Kelton Bonnell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Greenwood, their win bumped their record up to 4-10. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Greenwood's side, they got a massive performance out of Owen Losch, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Losch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Jones, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Coming up, East Juniata will face off against Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Greenwood, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mount Calvary Christian at 4:30 p.m. The last four games the Chargers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
