Recap: Mathews Mustangs vs. Maplewood Rockets
The Mathews Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Maplewood at home to the tune of 84-53. The victory was some much needed relief for Mathews as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Maplewood still got an impressive performance from Alex Donaldson, who shot 4-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Barnett, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Mathews' win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Maplewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mathews will take on Hubbard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maplewood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against McDonald at 7:00 p.m. Maplewood is coming into the matchup with seven straight defeats at home, meaning McDonald will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
