Football Game Preview: Sherwood Marksmen vs. Crest Ridge/Chilhowee

The Sherwood Marksmen will square off against Crest Ridge/Chilhowee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sherwood's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Versailles to the tune of 54-0. The Marksmen's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Sherwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Mueller out in front who threw for 92 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Mueller's passing game has become a key predictor of the Marksmen's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-6 otherwise. Ab Chaikin was Mueller's top target, picking up 41 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 52 yards and one score.

Sherwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 218 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, Crest Ridge/Chilhowee really took it to Westran for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-14 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Crest Ridge/Chilhowee just coasted through the last quarter.

The victory got Crest Ridge/Chilhowee back to even at 2-2. As for Sherwood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.
