Basketball Game Preview: Capitol Lions vs. Baker Buffaloes

Capitol and Baker are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Capitol Lions will welcome the Baker Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Capitol will be strutting in after a win while Baker will be coming in after a loss.

Capitol took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Lutcher, posting a 65-6 victory. The game marked the Lions' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Baker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 71-38 to West Feliciana, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Saints are ranked 126th).

Baker's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Capitol, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.

Capitol came up short against Baker in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 37-31. Can Capitol avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
