Holmes County is 8-2 against Ponce De Leon since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Holmes County Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Ponce De Leon Pirates at 6:45 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Holmes County saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bethlehem. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly eight points.

Meanwhile, Ponce De Leon lost to Bethlehem on the road by a 45-28 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 251st).

Ponce De Leon now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Holmes County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Holmes County ended up a good deal behind Ponce De Leon in their previous matchup back in January, losing 54-40. Can Holmes County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
