Baseball Game Preview: Roselle Park Panthers vs. Dunellen Destroyers

The Roselle Park Panthers will take on the Dunellen Destroyers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roselle Park's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matches, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Roselle Park lost 14-1 to Oratory Prep last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dunellen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Henry Hudson 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Destroyers.

Cole Mayer spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mark Stein, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Roselle Park's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Dunellen, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Roselle Park took their victory against Dunellen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Destroyers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
