Soccer Recap: Foard Takes a Loss

Foard came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Newton-Conover Red Devils, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Foard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Newton-Conover are ranked 26th).

Foard has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9-1 record this season. As for Newton-Conover, they pushed their record up to 15-1-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Foard will host North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newton-Conover, they will square off against Maiden at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newton-Conover will be up against Maiden's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.27 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
