Softball Game Preview: Del Norte Warriors vs. Eureka Loggers

Del Norte has gone 8-2 against Eureka recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Warriors will challenge the Loggers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Del Norte has nine straight wins, Eureka has 16 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Del Norte barely beat McKinleyville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Panthers on Saturday. Considering the Warriors have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Eureka and McKinleyville meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Loggers took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Macy Secor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Del Norte pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Eureka, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17-1.

Everything went Del Norte's way against Eureka in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Del Norte made off with an 18-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
