Softball Game Preview: Oostburg Flying Dutchmen vs. Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings

The Oostburg Flying Dutchmen will face off against the Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

18 must be Oostburg's lucky number: they beat Sheboygan South with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Flying Dutchmen put the hurt on the Redwings with a sharp 18-2 win. The Flying Dutchmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Ellodie Mills made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Mills was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Briley Behm was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Samantha Navis was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Oostburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Winnebago Lutheran Academy made easy work of Omro on Monday and carried off an 11-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

The team relied heavily on Addyson Suprenand, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kynzie Rank, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Oostburg, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Oostburg might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
