Baseball Game Preview: Glass Hilltoppers vs. Brookville Bees

The Glass Hilltoppers will head out on the road to square off against the Brookville Bees at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Glass is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Glass proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Amherst County.

Meanwhile, Brookville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Minutemen as they made off with a 13-1 victory. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bees yet this season.

Mason Coleman was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brookville is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Coleman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Camden Brown was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Brysn Quinn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Glass' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brookville, their record is now 8-6.

Glass skirted past Brookville 4-3 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
