Overton extends home winning streak to 16

Recap: Overton Eagles vs. Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons

The Overton Eagles waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 16 straight wins but they left with 17. They strolled past Wilcox-Hildreth with points to spare, taking the game 43-29. That's two games straight that Overton has won by exactly 14 points.

Overton had a senior duo take command as Jolee Ryan scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Natalie Wood almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Wood hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Florell, who scored nine points.

Cara Bunger and Madison Bunger certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Bunger scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals, while Bunger scored six points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Bunger has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.

Overton's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-8.

Overton will be playing in front of their home fans against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Wilcox-Hildreth will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Shelton at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Shelton: 29.6, Wilcox-Hildreth: 28) so any points scored will be well earned.
