Basketball Recap: Mid-Michigan Homeschoolers' Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Mid-Michigan HomeSchoolers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Lapeer Lakers Homeschool Lakers 68-62. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Lakers are ranked 217th).

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendan Redmond, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 19 points and three steals. Redmond is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aidan Porter, who posted 16 points.

Lapeer Lakers Homeschool's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justice Zavitz, who went 6 of 9 en route to 14 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Zavitz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Lomasney, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

Mid-Michigan HomeSchoolers' defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Lapeer Lakers Homeschool, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Mid-Michigan HomeSchoolers will head out to face off against Faith Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Lapeer Lakers Homeschool, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-41 victory against Christ the King on the 20th.
