Basketball Recap: LEAD Academy Takes a Loss

LEAD Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sun Valley Spartans. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, LEAD Academy still got an impressive performance from Anthony Petway, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight assists and five steals. Petway's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darnell Seay, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sun Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaleel Benjamin, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Thanasi Papazis was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

LEAD Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Sun Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

LEAD Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-58 loss against Brentwood Academy on the 3rd. As for Sun Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-36 defeat against Cuthbertson on the 7th.
