Basketball Game Preview: Patuxent Panthers vs. McDonough Rams

Having just played yesterday, the Patuxent Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the McDonough Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Patuxent will be strutting in after a victory while McDonough will be coming in after a loss.

Patuxent will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Westlake, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. Patuxent came out on top against Westlake by a score of 34-27 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, McDonough fought the good fight in their overtime game against Chopticon on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since January 24, 2024.

McDonough has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Patuxent, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-4.

Patuxent came up short against McDonough when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 38-25. Can Patuxent avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
