Basketball Recap: Salmon River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Greenleaf Friends Academy last Monday, Salmon River came back down to earth. The Salmon River Savages took a hard 55-41 fall against the Kendrick Tigers on Thursday. The Savages were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 67-41.

When it comes to explaining why Salmon River lost, don't look at Rylee Walters. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Walters is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Audrey Tucker also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Kendrick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hali Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Anderson has become a key player for Kendrick: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mercedes Heimgartner, who scored 14 points and five boards.

Salmon River's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Kendrick, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Salmon River has already played their next game, a 48-34 win against Highland on the 31st. As for Kendrick, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-38 loss against Genesee on the 31st.
