Basketball Recap: Eldred Takes a Loss

Eldred was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Tri-Valley Bears, falling 52-26. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 35-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Eldred lost, don't look at Olivia Gonzalez. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. That was a full 65.4% of Eldred's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Eldred's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Tri-Valley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eldred will head out to face off against Fallsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eldred is facing Fallsburg at the right time seeing as Fallsburg is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Tri-Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Onteora at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
