Basketball Game Preview: Plaza Heights Christian Academy Lions vs. Overland Christian Eagle

Plaza Heights Christian Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Overland Christian since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Eagle at 6:15 p.m.

On Thursday, Plaza Heights Christian Academy came up short against Christian Learning Center and fell 44-33. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Reece Cornine, who posted 13 points and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 27 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Meria Gabhart, who had ten points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Overland Christian hadn't done well against Heartland recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagle blew past the Mustangs, posting a 53-23 win. The Eagle pushed the score to 53-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Overland Christian's win came from a few key players Plaza Heights Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addie Askew, who put up 26 points and five steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kathryn Gray, who scored six points in addition to 11 rebounds and four steals.

Overland Christian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Plaza Heights Christian Academy strolled past Overland Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 57-40. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Eagle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
