Football Recap: Bishop O'connell Falls to Washington-Liberty in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Bishop O'Connell had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 55-22 loss at the hands of the Washington-Liberty Generals. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Generals are ranked 81st).

When it comes to explaining why Bishop O'Connell lost, don't look at Anthony Pham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Pham's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards.

David Toepel had a dynamite game For Washington-Liberty., picking up 198 receiving yards and three TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Black, who rushed for 127 yards and one score.

Bishop O'Connell has already played their next match, a 42-0 defeat against St. Albans on the 5th. As for Washington-Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 41-20 victory against McLean on the 5th.
