Volleyball Recap: Great Bend Comes Up Short

Great Bend's tournament run continued when they took on Washburn Rural on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Blues by a score of 2-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Great Bend started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-16, 25-9.

Mikala Minton paced Great Bend's offense, picking up seven kills. Minton got some help from Kya Behr and her 18 assists. Finally, Alex Mayers kept Great Bend's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Great Bend's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Washburn Rural, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3-3.

Great Bend has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against St. James Academy on the 27th. As for Washburn Rural, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shawnee Heights on Thursday.
