Basketball Recap: South View Drops Highest Score of Season Against Seventy-First

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South View). They took down the Seventy-First Falcons 62-44 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danauje Brooks, who went 11 for 25 on her way to 29 points and six assists. The game was Brooks' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Jordynn Parnell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Seventy-First's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kariana Williams, who posted 12 points along with six assists and six boards, and Alani-Skye Wilkerson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. That's the most assists Williams has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jewel Gully, who had four points.

South View has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Seventy-First, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

South View will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. South View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. Seventy-First will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Apex Friendship at 11:30 a.m. on December 26th. Seventy-First also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55 points per game.
