Top-ranked Byron Nelson stays hot winning second tournament and boosting record to 19-0.

Ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school volleyball rankings, Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas) continued its early-season domination, backing up its Ann Kang Invitational title with a championship at the Northwest ISD Classic tournament.

Byron Nelson picked up 10 wins last week without losing a set, capped by victories over Walnut Grove (Prosper, Texas) and Highland Park (Dallas, Texas) in the semis and final. The reigning MaxPreps National Champions have dropped one set all season, coming against No. 3 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) at Ann Kang.

Texas A&M commit Sophee Peterson was named MVP of the Northwest ISD Classic while Ashlyn Seay and Savannah Sterna earned all-tournament honors.

No. 11 Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) jumped five spots in the rankings after a 3-2 win over No. 12 Torrey Pines (San Diego, Calif.). The Mustangs, who went 4-3 in Hawaii last week at Ann Kang, got a big boost with the return of Wisconsin commit Audrey Flanagan after her time with the USA Volleyball U21 team's tournament in Indonesia. She had 18 kills while Simone Roslon added 17 as Mira Costa won 15-12 in the fifth.

No. 7 Roncalli (Indianapolis, Ind.) moved to 3-0 on the season with a pair of wins but the defending Class 4A champions also lost All-American Addie Haberthy to a season-ending ACL injury. The Xavier commit, however, has taken the setback as an opportunity to be a mentor to her replacement. In the 3-0 win over Carmel, video showed Haberthy calling freshman Norah Bell over before the second set to give encouragement and a hug. Bell is the younger sister of MaxPreps All-American Logan Bell, now at the University of Kansas, and the daughter of assistant Jessica Bell who was an All-American setter at Miami of Ohio.

Volleypalooza and Nike TOC Southeast are jam-packed with talent this weekend in two of the biggest tournaments on the calendar.

No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), No. 6 Pace Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) and No. 22 Cornerstone Christian (San Antonio, Texas) headline the Nike TOC action in Gainesville, Fla.
